Very good work on the animation, the sets and the props! The only thing that was kind of a let-down for me was the sound quality of some of the dialogues. But otherwise funny episode!

Nice job! I really like this new style of animation.

Such a great job of mixing stop-motion with 2D animation! Well done. I'd love to see more like this!

I love how it turned out! Glad to have been a part of it. Very funny, very good quirky animation and lovely sets.

Thanks! Glad you were in it!

Loved that LEGO City bit! Also, thumbs up for doing a collaboration! The only thing I'd like to point out is that you guys could've paid a bit more attention to how the figures look in each of the segments... I know it's hard to find matching pieces in a brickfilm collab, but the characters differences are a tad distracting.

AwesomepantsFilms responds:

Thanks!
We tried our very best to coordinate the sigfigs, but unfortunately we just did not all have the exact right pieces, so we had to make due with what was available. 🤷‍♂️

You always put so much work and care into your brickfilms. Your attention to detail is admirable, your animation is fantastic, and the way you build suspense in your scenes is something to aspire to. My favorite part is the long, intense silence before the fight at 7:13, but your battle scenes are also very well composed and coordinated, and the terrific sound design makes you feel like you're actually watching a war and not animated LEGO figures. (Also the end credits are wonderfully designed.)

Aside from the technical prowess, this brickfilm is also very educational and has an important, historical subject, shining light on a war that I think not many are familiar with.

Personally, however, I think the story would've been better communicated through one or two main characters, but that's just my opinion. The film worked well as is, and this doesn't take away from it. Well done!

Thank you very much for your kind and informative feedback!

I remember seeing this back when it was released and thinking as an amateur brickfilmer that THIS is what I want my movies to be like. STEAMPUNK is inspirational, exciting and just so cool.

The animation is very well done, the sets are amazing and some of the camerawork is simply brilliant: for example that elevator shot somewhere at 4:07.

The music is also great, very cinematic and adds a lot to the mood. The only thing I had problem with while rewatching the movie, is the sound mixing: it's sometimes hard to hear what the characters are saying over the loud music.

But this doesn't take away from the fantastic film: the characters are compelling and interesting, and the story simply sucks you in. I remember that this film inspired me to start thinking about longer brickfilms (which inspiration led to the Time Cruisers: Origins brickfilm I'm working on).

Well done. This is one of my all time favorite brickfilms and thank you for making it and inspiring others!

PritchardStudios responds:

Thanks for the high praise!
If others are entertained by it, and more, inspired by it, what more could I ask?
It's awesome to hear that I helped you along; it's been a joy to see your own films and skills grow over the years. In fact, you've inspired me along the way.

I agree, Tom did a good job writing the music for the film.

Also, good point about the voices. That's another reason I'm taking the time to remaster my Doctor Who film's audio, as sound balancing has been something of a struggle for me through the years. It's just too bad I didn't think to do that on this film until too late.

Thanks again for taking the time to review the film! This made my morning.

So true! I love it. That live action bit at the end was the icing on the cake. Very funny... But also quite sad.

Set bumps bring even the strongest to tears.

Animator, writer, composer and massive LEGO fan. I usually do stop-motion animation, but I am currently toying with 2D and 3D techniques. I like movies, superheroes and fantasy.
