Meet Faye Fula'an
The former slave who rose to power as a Sith Lord and decided to reform her Empire from within.
You can read the full profile on Toyhouse, but I'll share the main story here as well.
Raised by Swoop Gangs
Faye Fula'an was born in the year 3612 BBY, in the era of the Old Republic. She was born on the planet Taris, famous for its distinctly different upper and lower cities, with the wealthy thriving in the former, and the poor left to rot in the latter. The undercity's already unhealthy atmosphere had been further polluted after the Sith Lord Darth Malak bombed the planet's surface in an attempt to kill his old master. Living in the undercity, Faye's parents were poor and sickly, giving birth to a child with unhealthy, white hair. She was still young when her parents died due to illnesses connected to the polluted atmosphere.
After living on the streets for a while, she was "rescued" by gangsters of a swoop gang. The gang took part in illegal swoop races, where the contestants rode dangerously fast speeder bikes called swoops, with heavy betting taking place off the tracks. The gang first used Faye as a pickpocket, stealing valuables from the viewers of the races, becasue the gangsters thought no-one would suspect the young girl. Being sensitive to the Force, however, Faye showed incredible reflexes even at a young age. It was because of this that she was soon trained to ride swoops and was entered into the races.
Becoming a Cyborg
At age 14 she suffered a terrible accident during one of the races, losing her left leg and right eye. The swoop gang's doctor saved her life, augmenting the child with droid parts (even moreso than the injuries called for), making her into a cyborg. She was always a bit rebellious, but the enhancements were controlled by the doctor, so she was often punished by him if she didn't do as she was told. Punishments included electroshocks and locking her cybernetics so that Faye couldn't move or use her eye.
The augmentations increased her already incredible reflexes and senses, so by the age of 16 she was sent on assassination missions by the gang. She was efficient, but she felt horrible for each murder, and even though she protested, she was forced to carry out the missions. Soon, she started saving most of her targets, arranging for them to leave the planet, while lying that she killed them. She was 22 when the gang learned of this, and as punishment they auctioned her off as a slave.
Life as a Slave
A wealthy upper city resident bought her, an untouchable politician of the Sith Empire. Faye, and the other slaves were mostly tasked with the mundane tasks of servants, but they were sometimes used as dancers as well, having to entertain the politician and his friends. Here Faye befriended a twi'lek girl called Ghi'ina. Ghi'ina was small and weak, and she often made mistakes. Their master, however was not one to tolerate any errors. His punishments were cruel and severe, even for the smallest of blunders. Faye, feeling responsible for her friend, always tried to take the punishment instead of her.
After a few years their master was in need of money after losing a large sum betting on a swoop race, so he sold a few of his slaves he had grown bored of, including Faye and Ghi'ina. Someone even worse bought them: a bounty hunter who only purchased slaves to use them as target practice, and when Faye learned this after Ghi'ina died on their first night at their new master's home, her rage gave her power she has never felt before: bolts of lightning broke out from under her skin, destroying the restraining bolt of her cybernetics. She used these powers to kill the bounty hunter, avenging her friend and all others he killed, freeing all his slaves.
This was the first murder she ever enjoyed. Afterwards she decided to track down her old master, who was now the governor of Taris, and kill him too. The governor, however, learned of this, and set a trap, capturing Faye. She was to be executed, but the Sith warrior leading the task force felt her connection to the Force, so she was spared and shipped to the Sith Academy on Moraband.
Surviving the Sith Academy
Faye Fula'an arrived at the Academy as a captive and a slave, but after a series of tests her connection to the Force had been proven, so she was placed in the dormitory of the new recruits. Here the group of would-be siths were pitted against each other in a cruel race: only one of them could become the apprentice of the dark lord Darth Umbra -- the rest would be killed.
During the day, dangerous tasks and races were organized for the recruits in which they had to compete to prove their worth. These tasks were often deadly even on their own, but being forced to compete against each other, the recruits tried to sabotage their peers to get ahead in the race. Faye only wanted to survive these trials, and being disabled, most of the times she was overlooked and left alone by the saboteurs.
The real challange, however, came at night, when the acolytes returned to their dormitories. The rooms had no doors, and some of the more vicious recruits decided to thin the herd: they went around the dormitory, killing their rivals in their sleep. Faye's cybernetic eye was always turned on, so she was woken up when they entered hers, and she managed to fend off her attackers.
Becoming an Apprentice
One of the most important tasks that had been given to the acolytes was to build their lightsabers. For this they had to venture into the dangerous caves of Moraband for their kyber crystals, a lightsaber's source of power. While most of the would-be siths got their red crystals from the caves while fighting each other, Faye heard a call through the Force and was lead elsewhere: near the caves she found the tomb of a long forgotten Jedi, where, buried within the grave, she found two blue kyber crystals that had been somehow calling to her. She used these to build her double-bladed, blue saber.
After a while, as the number of sith academy recruits reached only a handful, the others started to realize how powerful Faye was, and started fearing that she'd be the one to win the competition. They formed an alliance against her, trying their best to thwart her advancement. Attacks on her at night became constant, so Faye fixed and modified an old academy mouse droid, M0-S5 (referred to as Em) to help her.
The sleepless nights and the deadly trials continued until only Faye and one other remained. The time had come for the final challange: a fight to the death. After a fierce battle Faye survived, and won the chance to become the apprentice of Darth Umbra. With her new title she was given a spaceship and was instructed to go to her new master on Dromund Kaas.
She, however, disobeyed, and took the ship back to her home planet of Taris, where she was planning to get revenge on the politicians who kept her as a slave, and the gangsters who made her into a cyborg and sold her.
Meeting the Jedi
When she arrived on Taris, fearing she'd be recognized by her white hair, she dyed it blue. Planning to infiltrate the governor's penthouse to assassinate him, she moved into the apartment on the opposite side of the street to first spy on him. Using her cybernetic eye she studied the governor's every move. Since she had been captured the last time she tried to kill him, this time she wanted to do things slowly. However, when she saw the governor beating up one of his slaves, all her careful planning went out the window.
As she tried to fight her way up to the penthouse, she was joined by another mysterious fighter with a lightsaber. After beating the governor's guards and freeing the slaves, they were halted by the magnetically sealed door of the governor's panic room. This is when the mysterious, togruta fighter introduced herself as Khari, a jedi knight who had defected from her order, because her masters were refusing to act against the corrupt politicians condoning the human trafficking of the swoop gangs.
The jedi defector joined Faye, and together they brought the fight to the swoop gangs, dismantling organized crime in the undercity. As they fought side-by-side and learned more about each other, they grew close and fell in love.
Reforming the Empire - One Governor at a Time
As Faye and Khari put an end to the illicit businesses the governor was involved in, the politician panicked, and tried to flee the planet. Faye and Khari had been planning for this, and they set a trap for him at the spaceport.
Here they had to duel the governor's dark jedi bodyguard, but they managed to beat him, and catch the governor too. Faye wanted to execute the politician, but Khari convinced her to let him face trial, believing that it would be for the greater good to expose the lies and corruption of the politician instead of making a martyr out of him. Faye reluctantly agreed, and they brought him to face justice on Dromund Kaas.
Here Faye met her would-be master, Darth Umbra, who commended her for her deeds on Taris, and told her that she would gladly take her on as a student. Faye, however, turned her down at first, saying that the whole system was wrong, and that the sith acolytes shouldn't have to compete in a death race to earn the right to learn from a master. She wished to go back to Moraband to change the rules of the Academy, but Umbra told her that she would never have enough political power to implement her revolutionary ideas, unless she became a Sith Lord first, so Faye reluctantly accepted her as her trainer, determined to one day reform the Sith Empire, with Khari by her side.
